CMA and PMD to enhance scienfic and technological cooperation in five fields

On May 28, Dr. Zheng Guoguang, Administrator of China Meteorological Administration(CMA) and Mr. Arif Mahmood, Director-General of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) signed The Second Session Summary of the Joint Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Meteorological Science and Technology between China Meteorological Administration and Pakistan Meteorological Department. Mr. Shen Xiaonong, Deputy Administrator of CMA, Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry, Advisor to Government of Pakistan on Climate Affairs and Permanent Representative of Pakistan with WMO attended the session and ceremony.

 

Before the ceremony, Dr. Zheng met with Dr. Chaudhry and expressed his positive attitude for meteorological development between two countries. He said two sides should enhance the scientific & technological cooperation and try best to do disasters prevention and mitigation.

 

Meanwhile, in the session of this afternoon, they reviewed the bilateral cooperation in the past years. The bilateral cooperation has gained a lot of achievements. PMD asked for more training support especially in terms of CMACAST and MICAPS system which given by CMA. Shen Xiaonong expressed that CMA would provide more supports and even mutual visits of the meteorological experts from both CMA and PMD would also be welcomed.

 

Furthermore, the two sides reached an agreement on the future cooperative plans which included five fields: Weather & Climate, Numerical Weather Forecast, Meteorological Telecommunication, Meteorological Satellite and Meteorological Research & Training. And they will improve forecast accuracy through sharing the related knowledge and special kills of weather & climate and develop the cooperation on the application of meteorological satellites.
